Waste or resource?

Recognizing the needs of the planet PeneloΠe R&D team is oriented towards the design of natural bioactive substances with antioxidant and UV protection characteristics.

For this reason we have Collaborated with the National Ηellenic Foundation and together we try to best utilize not only Greek biodiversity (spirulina, extra virgin olive oil) but also olive mill wastewaters.

Why? Olive mill waste waters are full of phenolic compounds. Some of these compounds such as tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein and oleocanthal are very valuable for pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries due to theιρ antioxidant action. These antioxidants have the potential to inhibit or combat free radicals.
